Zafira Dance Co. 2 Day Immersion:

The Collective Flow Experience

Flow occurs when the challenge is high, the skills are strong, and creative expression is open. The goal of the Collective Flow Experience is to provide a complete experience of the Zafira Dance Company’s dance philosophy, technique, and expression for the purposes of giving dancers tools and instruction on how to create their own authentic dance expression.
The immersion will incorporate the following topics:
* Skill Mastery and Practice (Drills, Isolation, Layering)
* Stylization, Folk and Ethnic Dance elements (Rajasthani, Upper Egyptian & Americana)
* Building blocks: building combinations where moves and gestures flow together seamlessly
* Expression and Creation of Performance - Bringing it all together (Choreography, developing concepts, narrative and musicality)

Sword Workshop Part 1 w/ Olivia

12:30 - 3 PM

This 2 part workshop! Our goal is to focus on both technique and theatrical concepts that underlie a fluid and evocative approach to sword work. We will accent the shape and shift of the sword with each movement of the body so that each form flows seamlessly into the next. We will learn a series of sword holds, dance moves and combinations in a short choreography with special attention to sword placement, movement and transitions.

The second workshop will be on August 15. These workshops are sequential and students must register for both parts of workshop.
